Toxicroak in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset & How to Get

Toxicroak is a fast, hard-hitting Poison/Fighting attacker in Pokemon Champions with a standout niche: Dry Skin makes it immune to Water and lets it heal in rain, so it walls Water attackers cold. Add Sucker Punch priority and a Swords Dance, and it becomes a disruptive offensive piece that thrives on rain teams. This guide covers its stats, type matchups, best moves, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.

Base Stats

Toxicroak has a solid 106 Attack and a usable 85 Speed, but thin 65/65 defenses keep it firmly in the offensive bracket. Its 83 HP gives it just enough cushion to make Dry Skin recovery meaningful. The numbers aren't elite, so Toxicroak earns its place through typing, ability and priority rather than raw stats.

Abilities

  • Dry Skin — grants immunity to Water-type moves and heals an eighth of HP each turn in rain (but takes extra damage from Fire and loses HP in sun). The build-around ability: it turns Toxicroak into a hard counter to Water attackers and a self-sustaining body on rain teams.
  • Poison Touch — gives contact moves a 30% chance to poison, adding passive chip on Drain Punch or Sucker Punch.
  • Anticipation — flags super-effective moves on team preview; informational only and rarely worth running over Dry Skin.

Best Moveset

Toxicroak's STAB combination and priority make it a clean offensive piece. For Regulation M-A doubles:

Swords Dance attacker

  • Gunk Shot or Sludge Bomb — Poison STAB; Gunk Shot hits far harder when accuracy is acceptable.
  • Close Combat — heavy Fighting STAB (drops defenses) for the two-type coverage that hits most of the format.
  • Sucker Punch — strong Dark priority to pick off frail or weakened threats.
  • Swords Dance + Protect — set up safely, then strike or threaten priority.

Disruptive utility

  • Fake Out-style support comes from Icy Wind (Speed control) and Encore (lock a foe into a bad move).
  • Drain Punch — Fighting STAB with recovery for a stickier set.
  • Knock Off — removes items and chips for value.

Other tools include Nasty Plot, Sludge Wave, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Taunt, Bulk Up and Tera Blast.

Suggested SP Spread

With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Toxicroak commits to offense:

  • Physical attacker: max Attack and Speed with an offensive Stat Alignment (boost Attack, lower Special Attack).
  • Bulky Dry Skin pivot: some HP on a rain team so its passive healing keeps it alive while it pressures Water-types.

Competitive Role in Regulation M-A

Toxicroak's competitive identity is built entirely around Dry Skin. In a format full of rain teams and Water-type attackers, a free Water immunity that also heals it every turn is a genuine answer that few Pokemon can match — it switches into a Water move, takes nothing, and gains HP. On a rain team of its own, that passive recovery plus Sucker Punch priority makes it a self-sustaining offensive threat that grinds down the opposing side.

Its Poison/Fighting STAB is excellent neutral coverage, and Swords Dance pushes it past the wallbreaking threshold. The cost is fragility and a glaring Fire and Psychic weakness — Toxicroak takes extra Fire damage from Dry Skin, so opposing sun teams and Fire coverage flip its strength into a liability. Used as a targeted Water-check and priority abuser rather than a generalist, it punches well above its modest base stats.

Evolution Line
