Sharpedo in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset, Mega & How to Get
Sharpedo is a glass-cannon Water/Dark attacker in Pokemon Champions with high Attack and the snowballing Speed Boost ability. Its Mega Evolution swaps to Strong Jaw and even higher offenses, turning biting moves like Crunch and Psychic Fangs into nukes. This guide covers Sharpedo's stats, type matchups, best moves, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.
Base Stats
Sharpedo is all offense and no defense: 120 Attack and 95 Speed (rising to 140 and 105 on the Mega), but a brittle 70 HP and just 40/40 defenses (70/65 on the Mega). It hits extremely hard but folds to almost any super-effective or priority hit, so it needs to move first and pick its turns.
| Form | HP | Atk | Def | SpA | SpD | Spe | BST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sharpedo | 70 | 120 | 40 | 95 | 40 | 95 | 460 |
| Mega Sharpedo | 70 | 140 | 70 | 110 | 65 | 105 | 560 |
Type Matchups
Abilities
- Speed Boost (Sharpedo) — raises Speed by one stage every turn, so even the base form quickly outruns the whole field after a turn or two on the field. This is the build-around ability before Mega Evolving.
- Rough Skin (Sharpedo) — chips attackers that make contact.
- Strong Jaw (Mega Sharpedo) — boosts the power of biting moves (Crunch, Ice Fang, Psychic Fangs, Poison Fang), giving the Mega a brutal STAB Crunch and strong coverage fangs.
Best Moveset
Sharpedo plays differently before and after Mega Evolving — the base form abuses Speed Boost, the Mega abuses Strong Jaw fangs. The main sets:
Mega Strong Jaw attacker
- Crunch — Dark STAB powered up by Strong Jaw into a heavy hit.
- Liquidation — Water STAB with a Defense-drop chance.
- Close Combat — coverage that smashes Steel, Normal and Dark resists.
- Protect — survive a turn to set up the safe Mega Evolution or dodge speed control.
Speed Boost sweeper (base)
- Flip Turn — pivot and chip while keeping Speed Boost stacks alive on the next entry.
- Aqua Jet — priority to clean up faster threats before the boosts come online.
- Crunch + Ice Beam or Blizzard — STAB plus coverage for Dragon/Flying/Grass.
- Protect — bank a Speed Boost turn safely.
Other tools include Hydro Pump, Earthquake, Bulldoze, Snarl, Taunt and Substitute.
Suggested SP Spread
With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Sharpedo wants Attack maxed and the rest in Speed, with an Attack- or Speed-boosting Stat Alignment that lowers its unused Special Attack. The Speed Boost base form can afford slightly less Speed since it gains stages on the field; the Mega prefers raw Speed. Tune the Level 50 numbers in the PikaChampions team builder.
Competitive Role in Regulation M-A
Sharpedo is a high-risk, high-reward physical sweeper. The base form's Speed Boost means it accelerates past the entire field within a turn or two, after which its 120 Attack and Aqua Jet priority let it clean up; banking a turn behind Protect or pivoting safely with Flip Turn keeps the snowball going. Mega Sharpedo trades the snowball for immediate power — Strong Jaw turns Crunch into one of the hardest STAB hits available, backed by Liquidation and Close Combat for near-perfect neutral coverage. Either way its 40-tier defenses are paper-thin, so it must avoid priority, Fake Out and faster attackers; it shines on Tailwind hyper-offense or as a late-game sweeper once threats are weakened.
Evolution Line
Carvanha → Sharpedo (Level 30). Sharpedo Mega Evolves by holding Sharpedonite.
