Serperior in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset & How to Get

Serperior is a fast Grass-type in Pokemon Champions whose whole identity comes from its hidden ability, Contrary. With Contrary, Leaf Storm's normal Special Attack drop becomes a boost, so every attack makes Serperior stronger instead of weaker. Paired with 113 base Speed and solid 95/95 defenses, it is a snowballing sweeper that also makes a fine fast supporter. This guide covers its stats, type matchups, best moves, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.

Base Stats

Serperior's spread is built around speed and defenses: 113 Speed outpaces most of the unboosted field, while balanced 75/95/95 bulk lets it survive long enough to set up. Its 75 Special Attack looks unremarkable, but Contrary + Leaf Storm effectively turns each hit into a +2 boost, so the raw number matters far less than the snowball. Physical Attack and the offensive movepool are weak, so it almost always runs special.

Abilities

  • Overgrow — powers up Grass moves by 50% below one-third HP. A passive backup ability only.
  • Contrary — inverts Serperior's own stat changes, so Leaf Storm's Special Attack drop becomes a +2 boost. This is the build-around ability and the only reason to run Serperior over other Grass-types.

Best Moveset

Contrary sweeper

  • Leaf Storm — Grass STAB that raises Special Attack by two stages with Contrary; spam it to snowball.
  • Dragon Pulse — coverage that hits the Grass-resisting Dragons and other Grass-types.
  • Tera Blast — flexible coverage to cover Fire and Steel walls.
  • Protect — doubles staple to set up a boost safely behind a partner.

Fast support

  • Grassy Glide — priority STAB under Grassy Terrain.
  • Leech Seed + Substitute — chip and stall a slower threat.
  • Taunt — shut off setup, Trick Room and redirection with Serperior's high Speed.
  • Helping Hand — boost a partner's attack.

Other tools include Giga Drain, Energy Ball, Calm Mind, Coil, Knock Off, Synthesis, Defog and dual screens.

Suggested SP Spread

With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), the Contrary sweeper wants Special Attack and Speed with an offensive Stat Alignment so its first Leaf Storm hits as hard as possible; a support build can shift points into HP and defenses while keeping max Speed for Taunt. Competitive Role in Regulation M-A

Serperior is a snowballing special sweeper. Most attackers get weaker the more they spam their best move; Contrary Serperior gets stronger, so by the second or third Leaf Storm it is firing +4 or higher and tearing through neutral targets. Its 113 Speed means it usually moves first to start the chain, and its respectable bulk lets it eat a hit and keep boosting. In doubles it appreciates redirection and Protect support to bank early boosts, and Tailwind or Trick Room teammates can extend its window. When a team doesn't need the sweeper, the same Speed and bulk make Serperior a clean Taunt + Leech Seed disruptor instead.

Evolution Line

Snivy → Servine (Level 17) → Serperior (Level 36). Serperior does not Mega Evolve.
