Runerigus in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset & How to Get
Runerigus is a defensive Ground/Ghost wall in Pokemon Champions built around a monstrous 145 Defense, useful 105 Special Defense and the disruptive Wandering Spirit ability. With dead-slow 30 Speed and two immunities baked into its typing, it is a natural Trick Room support piece and a wall that punishes attackers for touching it. This guide covers Runerigus's stats, type matchups, best moves, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.
Base Stats
Runerigus is a defensive monster on the physical side: 145 Defense backed by 105 Special Defense makes it extremely hard to break with attacks of either category, despite a low 58 HP. Offense is an afterthought (95 Attack, 50 Special Attack), and the 30 Speed is a Trick Room asset. You play it for the walls and the utility, not the damage.

| Runerigus | 58 | 95 | 145 | 50 | 105 | 30 | 483 |
Type Matchups
Abilities
- Wandering Spirit — when a Pokemon makes contact with Runerigus, the two swap abilities. Against contact attackers this can steal a useful ability (or saddle the attacker with a worse one), and it punishes physical attackers for hitting a wall that already has 145 Defense.
Best Moveset
Runerigus is a utility wall, so its sets revolve around hazards, status, and supporting a slower team rather than dealing big damage.
Defensive utility
- Earthquake — spread Ground STAB; useful even off a modest Attack stat in doubles.
- Will-O-Wisp — burns physical attackers, stacking with its already-elite Defense to wall them indefinitely.
- Stealth Rock — entry hazard that pays off across a best-of-three series.
- Protect — safety and Trick Room-turn stalling.
Trick Room support
- Trick Room — its 30 Speed makes Runerigus an ideal setter that survives to flip the turn order.
- Poltergeist — its strongest Ghost STAB when it does want to attack.
- Toxic Spikes or Haze — passive poison pressure or a reset for opposing setup sweepers.
- Disable / Taunt — lock down an opponent's key move or shut off their support.
It also carries Earth Power, Shadow Ball, Dragon Pulse, Dark Pulse, Rock Slide, Stone Edge, Iron Defense, Calm Mind, Nasty Plot, Substitute, and Tera Blast.
Suggested SP Spread
With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Runerigus wants HP above all to convert its lopsided defenses into raw survivability, then tops up the lower Special Defense side, with a defensive Stat Alignment that lowers its unused Special Attack or Speed. Confirm the final spread in the team builder.
Competitive Role in Regulation M-A
Runerigus is a defensive pivot and Trick Room support piece. Its 145 Defense walls the format's physical attackers, its Ground/Ghost typing grants immunities to both Normal/Fighting (via the Ghost half) and Electric (via Ground) while resisting Poison and Rock, and Wandering Spirit makes contact attackers think twice. It is not a damage dealer — its job is to set Stealth Rock, spread burns and Trick Room, and stay alive while slower partners clean up. The trade-off is its low HP, which means special hits to its weaker side still chip it down, and its typing leaves it weak to Water, Grass, Ice, Ghost and Dark. Pair it with a special wall to cover the gaps and let it anchor a bulky Trick Room core.
Evolution Line
Galarian Yamask → Runerigus (let it take at least 49 HP of damage in a single battle, then pass under the large stone arch in the Dusty Bowl while it holds onto that damage). Runerigus does not Mega Evolve.
How to Get Runerigus in Pokemon Champions
- Evolve Galarian Yamask — have it take 49 or more HP of damage in one battle, then travel under the stone arch in the Dusty Bowl to trigger the evolution.
