Rhyperior in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset & How to Get
Rhyperior is a colossal Ground/Rock tank in Pokemon Champions with a brutal 140 Attack, 115/130 physical bulk, and a 40 Speed that makes it a textbook Trick Room abuser. Lightning Rod draws Electric attacks away from partners while Solid Rock blunts super-effective hits. This guide covers Rhyperior's stats, type matchups, best moveset, an SP spread, its doubles role, and how to get it.
Base Stats
Rhyperior is built around 140 Attack backed by enormous 115 HP and 130 Defense. The downside is matching 55 in both Special stats and a glacial 40 Speed, so it almost always wants Trick Room or a Tailwind partner to act before it gets hit. Solid Rock turning every super-effective hit into a glancing blow stretches that bulk even further on the special side.

Type Matchups
Abilities
- Lightning Rod — redirects single-target Electric moves to Rhyperior and grants immunity, a major doubles draw that shields a partner and bluffs Electric attackers.
- Solid Rock — reduces the damage of super-effective hits by a quarter, softening Rhyperior's many 2x and 4x weaknesses (most notably Water and Grass).
- Reckless — boosts recoil moves; niche on Rhyperior since it rarely runs them.
Best Moveset
Rhyperior's notable movepool gives it strong STAB plus wide coverage. For Regulation M-A doubles:
Trick Room attacker
- Earthquake — spread Ground STAB; massive damage under Trick Room (mind your own partner).
- Rock Slide — spread Rock STAB with a flinch chance, ideal in doubles.
- High Horsepower — single-target Ground option when you can't risk hitting your ally.
- Protect — survive a turn and let Trick Room or a partner set up.
Coverage options
- Ice Punch — hits the Dragon/Flying/Grass crowd that resists Ground.
- Stone Edge — high-power single-target Rock when you need raw damage.
- Swords Dance — turns Rhyperior into a one-shot machine if it gets a free turn.
It also carries Stealth Rock, Thunder Punch, Fire Punch, Megahorn-class power via Superpower, and Tera Blast.
Suggested SP Spread
With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Rhyperior wants to dump points into Attack and HP, then take a damage-boosting Stat Alignment that lowers its already-irrelevant Speed for a Trick Room build. Tune the exact Level 50 numbers in the PikaChampions team builder.
Competitive Role in Regulation M-A
Rhyperior is a Trick Room sledgehammer and a defensive lynchpin rolled into one. Under Trick Room its 40 Speed becomes a virtue, letting it move first and fire off spread Earthquake and Rock Slide for crushing damage while Solid Rock and its huge HP keep it alive through hits that would flatten lesser attackers. Even outside Trick Room, Lightning Rod makes it a valuable pivot that neutralises Electric-types and protects fragile partners. Its weakness to Water and Grass — both 4x — means it leans on teammates to handle bulky Water-types and Grass coverage.
Evolution Line
Rhyhorn → Rhydon (Level 42) → Rhyperior (trade holding a Protector). Rhyperior does not Mega Evolve.
