Oranguru in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset & How to Get
Oranguru is a bulky Normal/Psychic support Pokemon in Pokemon Champions built around a slow 60 Speed and the doubles-only ability Symbiosis. With 90/110 special bulk, Trick Room, and disruption tools like Yawn and Instruct-style support, it anchors slow Trick Room teams while throwing out Psychic and Expanding Force damage. This guide covers Oranguru's stats, type matchups, best moves, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.
Base Stats
Oranguru is slow and bulky on the special side: 90 HP and 110 Special Defense make it hard to special-KO, while a flat 60 Speed is exactly what a Trick Room build wants. Its 90 Special Attack is respectable rather than scary, so it earns its place through utility and durability more than raw offense.

Type Matchups
Abilities
- Telepathy — Oranguru ignores damage from its own ally's spread moves, letting a partner click Earthquake, Heat Wave or Discharge freely without hitting it.
- Symbiosis — when Oranguru's ally uses up its held item, Oranguru passes its own held item to that ally; a doubles-specific support quirk for chaining Berries or boosting items.
- Inner Focus — immunity to flinching, so Fake Out and Rock Slide can't stop its Trick Room turn.
Best Moveset
Oranguru's role is support first, damage second. The core sets for Regulation M-A doubles:
Trick Room support
- Trick Room — the centerpiece; flips Speed so slow heavy hitters move first for five turns.
- Yawn — forces a switch or puts a threat to sleep, great value while setting up.
- Expanding Force — Psychic STAB that hits both opponents and gets stronger under Psychic Terrain.
- Protect — survive the turn and re-set Trick Room safely.
Bulky attacker variant
- Nasty Plot / Calm Mind — boost into a special threat under the room.
- Psychic / Psyshock — STAB; Psyshock hits special walls on their Defense.
- Foul Play — punishes physical attackers using their own Attack.
- Shadow Ball / Energy Ball — coverage for Ghosts and Water/Ground types.
Other notable tools include Trick-style item swaps, Encore, Taunt, Light Screen, Reflect, Stored Power, Focus Blast and Tera Blast.
Suggested SP Spread
With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), a support Oranguru wants HP and Special Defense maxed with a defensive Stat Alignment, leaving its 60 Speed untouched so Trick Room keeps it moving first. An offensive variant can divert points into Special Attack instead. Tune the exact numbers in the PikaChampions team builder.
Competitive Role in Regulation M-A
Oranguru is a dedicated Trick Room enabler and special wall. Its slow Speed and thick special bulk let it survive the turn it sets Trick Room — Inner Focus even protects that turn from Fake Out flinches — and then it supports the slow attackers that thrive under the room with Yawn pressure and Expanding Force spread damage. Telepathy is a real bonus, letting a partner spam spread moves without friendly fire, and Symbiosis opens niche item-chaining lines. It won't win games on its own, but as the glue that turns a slow team into a Trick Room core, it's a clean, durable pick that's hard to remove quickly.
Evolution Line
Oranguru does not evolve and has no pre-evolution; it stands alone as a single-stage Pokemon. It does not Mega Evolve.
