Luxray in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset & How to Get

Luxray is a physically-inclined Electric-type in Pokemon Champions that earns its slot almost entirely on Intimidate. A strong 120 Attack, a wide physical movepool led by Crunch and Superpower, and Volt Switch pivoting let it cut enemy Attack on entry and then trade or scout. This guide covers Luxray's stats, type matchups, best moves, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.

Base Stats

Luxray's standout number is its 120 Attack, backed by usable 80 HP and twin 79 defenses. The 70 Speed is the limiting factor — it sits below much of the format, so Luxray plays as a slower bruiser that leans on Intimidate and priority-adjacent utility rather than out-speeding threats. Its 95 Special Attack is real but the physical movepool is deeper.

Abilities

  • Intimidate — drops the Attack of both opposing Pokemon on switch-in. This is the reason to run Luxray: it softens physical offense for the whole team and can be re-triggered by pivoting in and out.
  • Rivalry — boosts damage against same-gender targets but lowers it against the opposite gender; too inconsistent for doubles.
  • Guts — raises Attack when statused, ignoring the burn drop; a niche choice for a status-bait set.

Best Moveset

Luxray's learnset is built around physical pressure plus the Intimidate pivot. For Regulation M-A doubles:

Intimidate pivot

  • Volt Switch — Electric STAB that lets Luxray pivot out and re-load Intimidate on the next entry.
  • Crunch — reliable physical coverage that hits Ghost and Psychic switch-ins.
  • Superpower — heavy damage into Steel, Rock and Normal targets that wall Electric.
  • Protect — doubles staple for scouting and stalling out Tailwind or Trick Room turns.

Support flavour

  • Snarl — spread Special Attack drop that stacks with Intimidate as overall damage control.
  • Thunder Wave — spreads paralysis to fix the Speed problem for slower partners.
  • Helping Hand — boost a partner's key attack.
  • Play Rough or Throat Chop — extra physical coverage.

Other tools include Thunderbolt/Discharge for a special spread option, Light Screen, Roar and Tera Blast.

Suggested SP Spread

With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Luxray usually maximises Attack and then adds bulk so its Intimidate body survives longer. A small Speed investment with a Speed-boosting Stat Alignment helps it creep past other slow attackers. Plug your numbers into the team builder to see the Level 50 result.

Competitive Role in Regulation M-A

Luxray is a utility attacker whose value is front-loaded: the moment it enters, both opponents lose a stage of Attack, which warps the physical-offense math for the rest of the turn. Volt Switch turns that into a repeatable cycle, letting it flicker in to re-apply Intimidate while chipping with STAB. It is outclassed as a pure damage dealer by faster Electrics, but as a slow, sticky Intimidate pivot with real offensive teeth it slots cleanly into bulky balance and Trick Room-adjacent cores that want both damage control and a body that hits back.

Evolution Line

Shinx → Luxio (Level 15) → Luxray (Level 30). Luxray does not Mega Evolve.
