Kingambit in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset & How to Get
Kingambit is a top-tier Dark/Steel physical attacker in Pokemon Champions that pairs 135 Attack with genuinely scary bulk and two of the best offensive abilities in the game. Defiant punishes stat drops while Supreme Overlord turns its fainted teammates into raw power. This guide covers Kingambit's stats, type matchups, abilities, best moveset, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.
Base Stats
Kingambit hits 135 Attack on a sturdy 100/120/85 defensive frame, so it is both a heavy hitter and a Pokemon that takes hits to set up. The 50 base Speed is low, which means it usually moves last — but that suits its tanky, late-game style and makes it a comfortable Trick Room pick. Its excellent Dark/Steel typing (only three weaknesses) is shown in the matchup block below.
| Form | HP | Atk | Def | SpA | SpD | Spe | BST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kingambit | 100 | 135 | 120 | 60 | 85 | 50 | 550 |
Type Matchups
Abilities
- Supreme Overlord — boosts Kingambit's Attack and Special Attack for every teammate that has already fainted, up to five. Late in a game it can become absurdly strong, which makes Kingambit a premier closer.
- Defiant — sharply raises Attack whenever any of Kingambit's stats are lowered. Intimidate, Snarl, sticky-web speed drops and similar effects all backfire, turning common support moves into a free +2 Attack.
- Pressure — makes opponents use two PP per move targeting Kingambit. Largely irrelevant in best-of timed doubles.
Best Moveset
Kingambit wants STAB plus a setup or support tool. For Regulation M-A doubles:
Bulky Swords Dance sweeper
- Swords Dance — +2 Attack stacks with Supreme Overlord and Defiant boosts for a terrifying late game.
- Iron Head — reliable Steel STAB with a flinch chance.
- Throat Chop or Foul Play — Dark STAB; Throat Chop also locks foes out of sound moves like Hyper Voice and Snarl.
- Protect — bank a turn while a partner removes a threat, then clean up.
Defiant pivot
- Iron Head + Throat Chop — dual STAB straight away, leaning on Defiant boosts from enemy Intimidate.
- Stone Edge or Stealth Rock — coverage for Flying/Fire, or chip support.
- Taunt — shut down opposing setup, screens or Trick Room.
It also has Iron Defense, Substitute, Snarl, Thunder Wave, Fling and Tera Blast in its kit.
Suggested SP Spread
With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Kingambit is happiest as a bulky attacker: pour points into Attack and HP and use a defensive or Attack-boosting Stat Alignment (its low Speed is fine and even helpful under Trick Room). You rarely need Speed investment. Dial in the Level 50 numbers in the PikaChampions team builder.
Competitive Role in Regulation M-A
Kingambit is the format's signature late-game cleaner. Defiant makes it a nightmare to soften with Intimidate or Snarl — the two most common ways doubles teams blunt physical attackers — and every such drop hands it a +2 Attack instead. Supreme Overlord then rewards attrition: the longer a game runs and the more teammates fall, the harder Kingambit hits, so it closes out games that look even or losing. Its Dark/Steel defenses let it sit on the field absorbing neutral hits while it banks Swords Dance and Overlord boosts. Pair it with sacrificial pivots and Trick Room support to maximise both abilities, and watch for the Fighting, Fire and Ground hits that are its only real answers.
Evolution Line
Pawniard → Bisharp (Level 52) → Kingambit (level up after defeating three other Bisharp while Bisharp holds a Leader's Crest). Kingambit does not Mega Evolve.
How to Get Kingambit in Pokemon Champions
- Evolve Bisharp — have Bisharp hold a Leader's Crest, then defeat three other Bisharp and level it up to evolve into Kingambit.
- Roster Ranch recruitment — available during the Regulation M-A season (around April–June 2026); permanently recruitable with Teammate Tickets.
- Transfer via Pokemon HOME — move a Kingambit from another title into Pokemon Champions.
