Goodra in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Hisuian Form & How to Get

Goodra is a deceptively durable special attacker in Pokemon Champions, built around an enormous 150 base Special Defense and a wide special movepool. The base form is pure Dragon, while Hisuian Goodra swaps to Steel/Dragon with the bulky Shell Armor ability and one of the best defensive typings in the game. This guide covers both forms, plus stats, matchups, best moveset, an SP spread and how to get it.

Base Stats

Goodra is wall-and-spank: 90 HP and a colossal 150 Special Defense let it sponge special hits all day, while 110 Special Attack hits back hard. Hisuian Goodra trades 20 Speed for 30 extra Defense (70 → 100), giving it 100/150 mixed bulk and a near-immovable physical wall. Both sit at a sluggish 80/60 Speed, so neither outruns the format — they soak hits rather than race.

Type Matchups

Weak to: Ice Dragon Fairy
Resists: Fire Water Electric Grass
The matchups below are for the base Dragon form (weak to Ice, Dragon, Fairy). Hisuian Goodra is Steel/Dragon instead, one of the best defensive typings in the game: its only weaknesses are Fighting and Ground. Steel cancels the Ice, Dragon and Fairy weaknesses and adds a stack of resistances plus a Poison immunity.

Abilities

  • Sap Sipper — absorbs Grass moves and raises Attack instead, an excellent doubles ability that flips Grass coverage and spread Grass moves into a free boost.
  • Hydration (Goodra) — cures status in rain. Niche on rain teams.
  • Gooey — drops the Speed of any attacker that makes contact, slowing physical threats.
  • Shell Armor (Hisuian Goodra) — blocks critical hits, which matters on a Pokemon meant to survive everything aimed at it.

Best Moveset

Bulky special attacker

  • Draco Meteor or Dragon Pulse — Dragon STAB; Draco Meteor for a nuke, Dragon Pulse for repeatable damage.
  • Thunderbolt / Flamethrower / Sludge Bomb — pick coverage; Sludge Bomb hits Fairies that wall the Dragon STAB.
  • Muddy Water or Surf — a spread Water move for doubles pressure.
  • Protect — doubles staple for scouting and stalling Trick Room or Tailwind turns.

Hisuian physical tank

  • Dragon Claw or Outrage — physical Dragon STAB to use the form's higher Defense alongside its solid Attack.
  • Iron Head — Steel STAB and a flinch chance.
  • Earthquake + Fire Punch — coverage off its 100 Attack.
  • Protect — survivability for a defensive pivot.

Other useful tools include Ice Beam, Focus Blast, Power Whip-tier coverage via Sludge Wave, Knock Off, Substitute and Tera Blast.

Suggested SP Spread

With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Goodra wants to lean into its bulk-and-power identity: invest heavily in HP plus Special Attack for the base form, or HP plus Defense for Hisuian Goodra to maximise its physical wall. A defensive or SpA-boosting Stat Alignment rounds out the spread. Tune the exact Level 50 numbers in the team builder.

Competitive Role in Regulation M-A

Goodra's niche is the special tank that refuses to die to special fire. Its 90/150 special bulk lets it switch into a huge slice of the format's special attackers and answer with strong Dragon and coverage STAB, making it a reliable glue piece on bulky balance. Hisuian Goodra is the more prized form in doubles: Steel/Dragon leaves it weak only to Fighting and Ground, so it walls almost everything that isn't a dedicated breaker, and Shell Armor means crits can't cheat through its bulk. Either form pairs well with redirection and Speed control, since both are slow enough to want help getting their hits off.

Evolution Line

Goomy → Sliggoo (Level 40) → Goodra (Level 50 while it is raining). Hisuian Goodra evolves from Hisuian Sliggoo the same way. Goodra does not Mega Evolve.

How to Get Goodra in Pokemon Champions

  • Evolve Sliggoo — raise Goomy to Sliggoo at Level 40, then to Goodra at Level 50 while it is raining (Hisuian line evolves identically).
  • Roster Ranch recruitment — available during the Regulation M-A season (around April–June 2026); permanently recruitable with Teammate Tickets.
  • Transfer via Pokemon HOME — move a Goodra from another title into Pokemon Champions.
