Excadrill in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset, Mega & How to Get
Excadrill is one of the premier physical Ground-types in Pokemon Champions. Its 135 Attack and reliable STAB combination of Ground and Steel make it a heavy hitter on any team, and under sand its Sand Rush doubles its Speed into a genuine sweeper. Its Mega Evolution pushes both Attack and bulk even higher. This guide covers Excadrill's stats, type matchups, best moves, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.
Base Stats
Excadrill leans hard offensive: 110 HP backs up a brutal 135 Attack, while 60/65 defenses are functional rather than tanky. Its 88 Speed is fine but middling — which is why Sand Rush, doubling it under sand, turns Excadrill from a strong attacker into a sweeper. Mega Excadrill keeps the Ground/Steel typing but jumps to 165 Attack, 100 Defense and 103 Speed, becoming both faster and far harder to break.
| Form | HP | Atk | Def | SpA | SpD | Spe | BST |

| Mega Excadrill | 110 | 165 | 100 | 65 | 65 | 103 | 608 |

Abilities
- Sand Rush — doubles Speed in a sandstorm. The build-around ability: pair Excadrill with a sand setter and it outruns nearly the whole field.
- Sand Force — boosts Ground, Rock and Steel moves by 30% in sand. A flat damage bonus that competes with the Speed boost of Sand Rush.
- Mold Breaker — ignores the target's ability when attacking; lets Earthquake hit Levitate users and bypasses defensive abilities.
- Piercing Drill (Mega Excadrill) — the form's exclusive Champions-original signature ability.
Best Moveset
Excadrill wants to hit hard and fast. For Regulation M-A doubles:
Physical sweeper
- High Horsepower — single-target Ground STAB that is safe in doubles (no risk of hitting your partner like Earthquake).
- Iron Head — Steel STAB with a flinch chance; covers Fairy and Rock targets.
- Rock Slide — spread Rock coverage that pressures both opponents and threatens Flying types.
- Protect — doubles staple, especially valuable while sand ticks or for stalling Trick Room.
Setup / utility flex
- Swords Dance — a +2 boost that makes its 135 (or Mega's 165) Attack overwhelming.
- Earthquake — the harder-hitting spread Ground option for full-room setups.
- Stealth Rock — entry-hazard support on a more defensive lead.
- Rapid Spin — hazard removal plus a small Speed boost.
Other tools include Earth Power, Scorching Sands, Sludge Bomb, Iron Defense, Helping Hand, Throat Chop and Tera Blast.
Suggested SP Spread
With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Excadrill almost always maxes Attack first. On a Sand Rush set you can leave Speed lower and let the ability do the work, redirecting points into HP for bulk; off sand, invest in Speed too. An Attack-boosting Stat Alignment suits the sweeper build, while Mega Excadrill's higher base Speed lets you lean more into bulk. Dial in the numbers in the PikaChampions team builder.
Competitive Role in Regulation M-A
Excadrill is a top-tier physical breaker and the centrepiece of sand offense. Off a sand setter, Sand Rush flips its only weakness — middling Speed — and turns it into a sweeper that outruns and one-shots much of the format with High Horsepower and Iron Head. Even without sand, 135 Attack and a Ground/Steel STAB that hits an enormous range neutrally makes it a constant threat, and Mold Breaker lets it punch through Levitate and other defensive abilities. Mega Excadrill takes the same plan and removes the need for sand entirely, with 103 Speed and 165 Attack outright. Pair it with redirection or Tailwind off sand, or build a dedicated sand core to unlock the Sand Rush sweep.
