Emboar in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset, Mega & How to Get

Emboar is a heavy-hitting Fire/Fighting attacker in Pokemon Champions with a huge 110 HP and 123 Attack but a slow 65 Speed that begs for Trick Room. Its Mega Evolution gains Mold Breaker and jumps to 148 Attack with vastly better special bulk, turning it into a wall-ignoring sledgehammer. This guide covers Emboar's stats, type matchups, best moves, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.

Base Stats

Base Emboar pairs 110 HP and 123 Attack with poor 65/65 defenses and a slow 65 Speed — a glassy bruiser that hits hard but folds to special attacks. Mega Emboar fixes the worst of that: Attack climbs to 148 and both defenses rise to a far sturdier 75/110, so the Mega survives the special hits that flatten the base form while hitting even harder. Speed barely moves (75), so Emboar stays a Trick Room or Tailwind attacker either way.

Abilities

  • Blaze (Emboar) — powers up Fire moves by 50% below one-third HP. Passive only.
  • Reckless (Emboar) — boosts recoil moves like Flare Blitz and Head Smash by ~20%, a real damage gain on its main STAB.
  • Mold Breaker (Mega Emboar) — ignores defensive abilities such as Flash Fire, Levitate and Thick Fat, so the Mega's STAB lands on Pokemon that would normally shrug it off.

Best Moveset

Trick Room wallbreaker

  • Flare Blitz — top-end Fire STAB, boosted by Reckless on the base form (recoil is a real cost behind Trick Room).
  • Close Combat — Fighting STAB; raw, slot-defining power.
  • Earthquake or High Horsepower — Ground coverage; High Horsepower spares the partner.
  • Protect — doubles staple to survive and pick its turn.

Spread & utility

  • Heat Wave — spread Fire damage hitting both opponents.
  • Rock Slide — spread coverage with a flinch chance.
  • Bulk Up + Drain Punch — setup and recovery for a more durable Mega set.

Other tools include Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Superpower, Stone Edge, Knock Off, Thunder Punch, Will-O-Wisp, Helping Hand and Tera Blast.

Suggested SP Spread

With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Mega Emboar wants Attack plus enough HP/defense to make use of its improved 75/110 bulk, with a slow Stat Alignment (lower Speed) so it strikes first under Trick Room. A Tailwind build instead leaves Speed alone and dumps everything into Attack and HP. Tune it in the team builder.

Competitive Role in Regulation M-A

Emboar is a slow, immensely strong physical wallbreaker. Its dual Fire/Fighting STAB hits a large slice of the format for at least neutral, and Mega Emboar's Mold Breaker punches through the Flash Fire and Thick Fat answers that normally check Fire attackers — there are very few "safe" switch-ins to a +0 Close Combat or Flare Blitz from 148 Attack. The catch is its speed: at 65–75 it moves last against most of the field, so it leans on Trick Room or Tailwind support to land its hits, and on Protect plus redirection to survive the special attacks that exploit its mediocre Special Defense. As a Trick Room nuke that ignores defensive abilities, it fills a specific and powerful role.
