Chimecho in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset, Mega & How to Get

Chimecho is a deceptively bulky Psychic-type in Pokemon Champions that floats above the ground thanks to Levitate. Its Mega Evolution pushes its already-good special bulk and Special Attack to genuinely scary levels while picking up a Steel typing, turning a humble support mon into a real defensive threat. This guide covers Chimecho's stats, type matchups, best moves, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.

Base Stats

Base Chimecho is a tidy 75/80/90 bulk wall with a respectable 95 Special Attack but a middling 65 Speed. Mega Chimecho is the real prize: 110 Defense, 120 Special Defense and a 135 Special Attack make it both far harder to break and a serious special attacker, though the 65 Speed stays put — which is exactly why it leans on Trick Room.

Type Matchups

Weak to: Bug Ghost Dark
Resists: Fighting Psychic
Immune to: Ground
Mega Chimecho changes type to Psychic/Steel. With Levitate negating Ground, its only weaknesses become Fire, Ghost and Dark, and the Steel typing adds resistances to Bug, Steel, Fairy, Dragon, Ice and more, plus a Poison immunity. That is a remarkably clean defensive profile for a wall.

Abilities

  • Levitate (Chimecho & Mega Chimecho) — grants full immunity to Ground-type moves. This is a defining trait: Earthquake and other spread Ground attacks, a staple of doubles, simply do nothing to Chimecho, which makes it a safe partner next to Ground-weak teammates.

Best Moveset

Chimecho's movepool is built for control and support, with enough offense to punish once it Mega Evolves.

Bulky Trick Room support

  • Trick Room — flips the Speed order so slow, bulky attackers move first; Chimecho's own 65 Speed appreciates the room too.
  • Helping Hand — boosts a partner's damage for a turn, a clean support move when there is nothing better to click.
  • Psychic or Psyshock — reliable STAB; Psyshock hits the physical defense of special walls.
  • Protect — doubles staple for scouting and stalling.

Calm Mind / Stored Power

  • Calm Mind — boosts Special Attack and Special Defense, snowballing Mega Chimecho's bulk and power.
  • Stored Power — scales with every stat boost, becoming a devastating finisher after a couple of Calm Minds.
  • Cosmic Power — doubles defenses for an even harder-to-break setup line.
  • Dazzling Gleam or Shadow Ball — spread or coverage to keep Stored Power from being walled by Dark-types.

Other tools in its kit include Recover, Yawn, Hypnosis, Encore, Taunt, Knock Off, Icy Wind, Perish Song, and dual screens (Reflect / Light Screen).

Suggested SP Spread

With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Mega Chimecho usually wants HP and Special Defense to maximise its wall role, with a defensive Stat Alignment that lowers Attack or Speed. A Trick Room build can dump Speed entirely; a Calm Mind / Stored Power build leans Special Attack instead. Tune the exact Level 50 numbers in the PikaChampions team builder.

Competitive Role in Regulation M-A

Chimecho's niche is the safe, Ground-immune support pivot. Levitate lets it sit beside teammates that fear Earthquake while it sets Trick Room, fires off Helping Hand, or spreads status with Yawn and Hypnosis. Once it Mega Evolves, the calculus shifts — 135 Special Attack on top of 110/120 defenses makes it a slow, durable attacker that thrives under the Trick Room it sets itself. Its scariest line is Calm Mind plus Stored Power, where its bulk buys the turns it needs to become an unstoppable snowball, provided you keep Dark-types off the field.

Evolution Line

Chingling → Chimecho (level up with high friendship at night). Chimecho Mega Evolves while holding its Mega Stone, gaining the Psychic/Steel typing and a large stat boost.
