Basculegion in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Forms & How to Get
Basculegion is a bulky, hard-hitting Water/Ghost attacker in Pokemon Champions built around Adaptability, which turns its STAB bonus from 1.5x into a brutal 2x. With 120 HP and 112 Attack it is far tankier than most offensive Water-types, and it comes in Male and Female forms that share the same Water/Ghost typing but lean physical (Male) or special (Female). This guide covers both forms, plus stats, type matchups, abilities, best moveset, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.
Base Stats
Basculegion stands out for pairing offense with real bulk: 120 HP plus 112 Attack make it an attacker that survives hits rather than trading one-for-one. The Male and Female forms share this stat line in Champions and the same Water/Ghost typing; lore-wise the Male leans physical and the Female special, but both run Adaptability-boosted STAB. At 78 Speed it is middling, so it appreciates rain (Swift Swim) or Tailwind to move first; its 65 Defense is the soft spot.
| Form | HP | Atk | Def | SpA | SpD | Spe | BST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basculegion | 120 | 112 | 65 | 80 | 75 | 78 | 530 |
Type Matchups
Abilities
- Adaptability — STAB moves are boosted 2x instead of 1.5x. This is the build-around ability: an Adaptability Wave Crash or Shadow Ball hits like a much stronger Pokemon and turns Basculegion's good Attack into great damage.
- Swift Swim — doubles Speed in rain, fixing its only real flaw and letting it sweep on a rain team.
- Mold Breaker — ignores opposing abilities like Levitate or Water Absorb; situational and rarely chosen over the other two.
Best Moveset
Basculegion's pool is offense-focused with strong dual STAB and priority. The standout Regulation M-A options:
Bulky physical attacker (Male)
- Liquidation — Adaptability-boosted Water STAB with a Defense-drop chance.
- Shadow Ball — Ghost STAB; the second 2x STAB and great coverage into Psychic and Ghost types.
- Aqua Jet — Adaptability-boosted priority to pick off faster, weakened threats.
- Protect — doubles staple for scouting and safety.
Rain / pivot
- Hydro Pump / Surf — strong Water STAB, especially under rain.
- Flip Turn — pivots out while chipping and keeping momentum.
- Icy Wind — spread speed control and Ice coverage.
- Crunch or Zen Headbutt — physical coverage options.
It also has Ice Beam, Blizzard, Muddy Water, Outrage, Substitute and Tera Blast.
Suggested SP Spread
With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Basculegion wants Attack plus Speed (or HP for a bulkier pivot) with an offensive Stat Alignment; a rain build can lean harder into power knowing Swift Swim handles Speed. Tune the exact Level 50 numbers in the PikaChampions team builder.
Competitive Role in Regulation M-A
Basculegion is the rare attacker that is also a bulky pivot. Adaptability-boosted Liquidation and Shadow Ball give it two STAB moves that hit harder than the type chart suggests, while its enormous 120 HP lets it absorb a hit and keep attacking instead of being one-and-done like most Water offense. Aqua Jet provides Adaptability-powered priority to clean up weakened foes and break Speed ties, and Flip Turn keeps momentum on the team's terms. On a rain team Swift Swim removes its only weakness, turning it into a fast, durable sweeper. Pair it with rain or Tailwind setters and partners that appreciate a spread of Water and Ghost coverage, and watch its frail 65 Defense against physical attackers.
Evolution Line
White-Striped Basculin → Basculegion (take 294 or more points of recoil damage without fainting, the Legends: Arceus method). The Male and Female forms come from the corresponding gender of White-Striped Basculin. Basculegion does not Mega Evolve.
How to Get Basculegion in Pokemon Champions
- Evolve White-Striped Basculin — have it accumulate 294+ points of recoil damage without fainting to evolve into Basculegion (Male or Female by gender).
