Armarouge in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset & How to Get

Armarouge is a bulky special attacker in Pokemon Champions that pairs a hard-hitting 125 Special Attack with genuine defensive heft. Its Fire/Psychic typing and access to Expanding Force make it a standout Trick Room sweeper in Regulation M-A doubles, while Flash Fire gives it a useful immunity in matchups against Fire teams. This guide covers Armarouge's stats, type matchups, abilities, best moveset, an SP spread, its competitive role, and how to get it.

Base Stats

Armarouge is more than a glass cannon: 85 HP and 100 Defense back up its strong 125 Special Attack, with a serviceable 80 Special Defense. The middling 75 Speed is the catch — it gets outsped by a lot of the format, which is exactly why Armarouge is so often built as a Trick Room attacker, where being slow becomes an advantage.

Abilities

  • Flash Fire — Armarouge takes no damage from Fire-type moves and instead powers up its own Fire attacks when hit by one. A strong matchup tool: it can switch in on a partner's or opponent's Fire move for a free offensive boost.
  • Weak Armor — when hit by a physical move, Defense drops one stage but Speed rises one stage. Situational, and at odds with a Trick Room build, so it is rarely chosen.

Flash Fire is the standard pick — the Fire immunity and offensive upside both suit Armarouge's role.

Best Moveset

Armarouge is a premier Trick Room special attacker. Under the room it hits hard and survives long enough to do it twice:

Trick Room sweeper

  • Expanding Force — under Psychic Terrain this becomes a powerful spread STAB move that hits both opponents, Armarouge's signature doubles weapon.
  • Heat Wave — spread Fire STAB that pressures the whole opposing side.
  • Trick Room — Armarouge can set the room itself, then immediately abuse it.
  • Protect — a doubles staple for surviving the turn Trick Room goes up and scouting threats.

For a more standard set, swap in single-target STAB and coverage: Psychic or Psyshock, Flamethrower or Fire Blast, plus Aura Sphere, Focus Blast, Dark Pulse, Energy Ball or Shadow Ball for coverage. Calm Mind boosts its already-large Special Attack, while Will-O-Wisp, Taunt, Wide Guard and Helping Hand add utility.

Suggested SP Spread

With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Armarouge's Trick Room build wants Special Attack maxed for power and HP investment so it survives long enough to fire twice — Speed is left alone since slow is the goal under Trick Room. Use a Stat Alignment that boosts Special Attack while lowering its unused physical Attack. Tune the exact numbers in the PikaChampions team builder.

Competitive Role in Regulation M-A

Armarouge is one of the most reliable Trick Room sweepers in the format. Its real edge is the combination of high Special Attack, genuine bulk, and Expanding Force: under Psychic Terrain it throws out a boosted spread move that punishes both opponents at once, and its slow Speed means it usually moves first once Trick Room is up. It pairs naturally with Psychic Terrain setters and other slow attackers, and Flash Fire gives it free swap-ins against the format's many Fire moves. Outside Trick Room it can still function as a bulky Calm Mind attacker, but its ceiling is highest on a dedicated room team.

Evolution Line

Charcadet → Armarouge (using the Auspicious Armor). Ceruledge is the alternate evolution, reached with the Malicious Armor. Armarouge does not Mega Evolve.
