Arcanine in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Hisuian Form, Moveset & How to Get

Arcanine is a top-tier offensive support in Pokemon Champions: it combines the format-defining Intimidate ability with a strong 110+ Attack and priority Extreme Speed. The Hisuian Arcanine form trades the Kanto build for a Fire/Rock attacker with Rock Head. This guide covers both, plus stats, matchups, best moveset, an SP spread and how to get it.

Base Stats

Both forms sit at 555 BST with excellent Attack and good all-round bulk. Kanto Arcanine is slightly faster and mixed; Hisuian Arcanine is a touch bulkier and leans fully physical with Rock Head, letting it spam recoil-free Flare Blitz.

Type Matchups

Weak to: Water Ground Rock
Resists: Fire Grass Ice Bug Steel Fairy
The matchups below are for Kanto Arcanine (pure Fire — weak to Water, Ground and Rock). Hisuian Arcanine is Fire/Rock: it gains a strong Rock STAB but becomes 4× weak to Water and also weak to Fighting and Ground, so play it more carefully.

Abilities

  • Intimidate — lowers both opponents' Attack on entry; the main reason Arcanine is so valued.
  • Flash Fire — absorbs Fire moves for a boost.
  • Justified (Kanto) — Attack boost when hit by a Dark move.
  • Rock Head (Hisuian) — removes recoil, so Flare Blitz and Head Smash hit with no drawback.

Best Moveset

Intimidate physical attacker

  • Flare Blitz — powerful Fire STAB (recoil-free on Hisuian via Rock Head).
  • Extreme Speed — strong priority to pick off weakened or fast threats.
  • Close Combat or Crunch — coverage.
  • Protect, Will-O-Wisp or Snarl — safety and team support.

Hisuian Arcanine adds Rock STAB (Rock Slide / Head Smash) to its kit; both forms can run Helping Hand and Tera Blast.

Suggested SP Spread

With the SP system, Arcanine usually wants Attack and Speed with a touch of bulk, using an offensive Stat Alignment. Because Intimidate already cushions physical hits, leaning into Attack and Speed maximises its pressure. Tune it in the team builder.

Competitive Role in Regulation M-A

Arcanine is a premier offensive Intimidate user: switching it in immediately weakens both opposing attackers, and it threatens back with Flare Blitz and priority Extreme Speed. Will-O-Wisp and Snarl let it chip and support, making it a fit for nearly any balance or offense team. Hisuian Arcanine is the more aggressive, all-physical variant with Rock coverage — strong, but its 4× Water weakness demands more careful positioning.

Evolution Line

Growlithe → Arcanine using a Fire Stone (use a Hisuian Growlithe for Hisuian Arcanine). Arcanine does not Mega Evolve.
