Abomasnow in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset, Mega & How to Get

Abomasnow is the format's dedicated snow setter in Pokemon Champions. With Snow Warning, it summons snow the instant it enters, enabling Aurora Veil and powering up Ice teammates. Its Mega keeps Snow Warning while becoming a slow, hard-hitting mixed attacker — a natural Trick Room piece. This guide covers its stats, type matchups, best moves, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.

Base Stats

Abomasnow is a balanced 90 HP / 92 Attack / 92 Special Attack body with middling defenses and a slow 60 Speed. Mega Abomasnow lifts both offenses to 132 and both defenses to 105, but drops Speed to a crawling 30 — which is a feature, not a bug, since it loves Trick Room. Either form lives or dies on its Grass/Ice typing rather than raw speed.

Resists: Water Electric Grass Ground

Abilities

  • Snow Warning — summons snow on entry (longer with Icy Rock). The build-around ability on both forms: snow boosts the Defense of Ice-types, enables Aurora Veil for instant dual screens, and supports Ice abusers like Slush Rush partners.
  • Soundproof — immunity to sound-based moves (Hyper Voice, Bug Buzz, snore/roar effects). Niche; almost always passed over for Snow Warning.

Best Moveset

Abomasnow's job is to set snow, throw out screens, and hit hard off either attacking stat. For Regulation M-A doubles:

Aurora Veil support

  • Aurora Veil — sets both screens at once in snow; the core reason to run Abomasnow.
  • Blizzard — never-miss spread Ice STAB in snow, hitting the whole opposing side.
  • Ice Shard — Ice priority to pick off weakened targets even when slow.
  • Protect — scout and stall while the snow ticks.

Trick Room attacker (Mega)

  • Blizzard + Energy Ball or Giga Drain — dual STAB; Giga Drain adds longevity.
  • Earthquake or Earth Power — coverage for the Steel and Fire types that wall Grass/Ice.
  • Wood Hammer-style power via Leaf Storm for a one-off nuke, or Ice Punch physically.

Other tools include Light Screen, Swords Dance, Focus Blast, Icy Wind (Speed control), Weather Ball (Ice in snow), Synthesis and Tera Blast.

Suggested SP Spread

With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Abomasnow builds around its slow, supportive role:

  • Aurora Veil support: invest in HP and Special Defense so it survives to set screens, with a defensive Stat Alignment.
  • Trick Room attacker: max Special Attack (and minimal Speed) so Mega Abomasnow moves first under Trick Room and hits with its 132 offenses.

Competitive Role in Regulation M-A

Abomasnow is a support specialist whose value is its weather. Snow Warning sets the field for free, instantly enabling Aurora Veil — two screens in one move — which is one of the strongest setup tools in doubles. That snow also boosts Ice-types' Defense and feeds Slush Rush and snow-dependent partners, making Abomasnow the keystone of an entire archetype rather than a standalone threat.

Mega Abomasnow trades the support flexibility for raw power and bulk: at 30 Speed it almost always moves last, so it wants Trick Room to flip the turn order, after which its 132/132 offenses and never-miss Blizzard hit the whole opposing side hard. The catch is its typing — Grass/Ice carries a stack of common weaknesses (Fire especially is brutal), so Abomasnow leans on its screens and partners to cover the openings it can't patch itself.

Evolution Line

Snover → Abomasnow (Level 40). Abomasnow Mega Evolves by holding Abomasite.
